About the Experience

The day begins with private transportation from Los Sueños toward the Central Valley and the cool volcanic highlands of Poás. As the scenery changes from the Pacific coast to mountain farms and cloud forest, your fully bilingual TicoWay guide will share local insight about Costa Rican culture, rural communities, nature, coffee production and the landscapes you pass along the way.
Your first main stop is Poás Volcano National Park, home to one of Costa Rica’s most impressive active volcanic craters. The fresh mountain air, cloud forest vegetation and dramatic volcanic scenery create a completely different side of Costa Rica from the coastal areas around Los Sueños.
After visiting the volcano, enjoy a special local tasting stop at a souvenir shop in the Poás area. Guests can sample regional fruits, cheeses, local wines and liquors, with time to browse Costa Rican souvenirs, local products and gifts. This stop adds a relaxed cultural flavor to the day and gives guests a chance to experience small local products from the volcanic highlands.
The tour then continues to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, one of the most scenic nature parks in Costa Rica. Walk through rainforest trails, visit rescued wildlife exhibits, see hummingbirds and butterflies, and enjoy a series of powerful waterfalls surrounded by lush tropical scenery.
The final stop is Hacienda Doka, a traditional Costa Rican coffee estate located in one of the country’s most important coffee-growing regions. During the coffee tour, you will learn how coffee is grown, harvested, processed, roasted and prepared, connecting the volcanic soil, local farming traditions and everyday Costa Rican culture behind one of the country’s most iconic products.

Itinerary
Morning departure from Los Sueños – 6:00 am
Your private TicoWay guide will pick you up at Los Sueños and begin the scenic drive toward the volcanic highlands of Poás. Along the way, enjoy changing landscapes, mountain views and local commentary from your bilingual guide.
Poás Volcano National Park – 9:00 am
Visit the main crater viewpoint at Poás Volcano. If weather conditions allow, you may see the active crater, cloud forest vegetation and dramatic volcanic landscape.
Local tasting and souvenir stop – 10:30 am
After the volcano, stop at a local shop in the Poás area for a tasting of regional fruits, cheeses, local wines and liquors. Guests may also browse souvenirs, local products and Costa Rican gifts.
La Paz Waterfall Gardens – 11:00 am
Continue to La Paz Waterfall Gardens for a nature-focused experience with rainforest trails, rescued wildlife, butterflies, hummingbirds and a series of scenic waterfalls.
Hacienda Doka Coffee Tour – 3:00 pm
Finish the experience at Hacienda Doka with a traditional coffee tour. Learn how Costa Rican coffee is cultivated, processed, roasted and prepared in one of the country’s most famous coffee regions.
Return to Los Sueños – arriving at 6:30 pm approx.
After the coffee tour, relax during the private return drive back to Los Sueños.

Entrance tickets and prepaid services may become non-refundable after purchase. Cancellations made close to the departure date and no-shows may be charged in full.
