What Is a PyME in Costa Rica?
PyME stands for Pequeña y Mediana Empresa, or Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) in English.
In Costa Rica, PyME status recognizes qualifying micro, small, and medium-sized businesses that operate formally within the country’s business and regulatory framework.
Small businesses play an important role in Costa Rica’s economy. They create opportunities, support local families, generate economic activity within their communities, and help develop services and products with a distinctly Costa Rican identity.
